(More customer reviews)The "marker lights" on the mirrors of the Toyota FJ Cruiser rank among the silliest products ever put on a vehicle in terms of effectiveness. They are so dim as to be virtually useless.
THIS product, the "High Intensity" LED bulb does little to fix the problem. Yes, the LED is brighter than the OEM marker lights, but not by much. Further, the LED's beam is very blue, almost to the point of a "teenagerish" car modification. So, while the bulb is somewhat brighter, the light produces an artifical and distinct blue overtone to whatever it hits, which isn't very much because it's still not bright enough. This product should be at least twice as bright and reduce the blue tint by at least half.
Moreover, there are no installation instructions, which means that you either have to do a lot of research on the net and practice on your FJ to figure out how to change the bulb (there is nothing in the owner's manual for the FJ about changing these lights) or pay to have someone do it. Once you find out how to change it, you'll cringe because it involves carefully, and in a bit of a tricky move, pulling the actual mirrors (i.e., not the entire mirror unit, the glass mirrors themseleves) off to access the back fo the bulb. A local FJ mechanic broke mine trying to do it. I later practiced and can now do it on my own, but it's still a nail-bitter. And you will need to replace these bulbs, as they burn out or malfunction with the rigors of four-wheeling.
Finally, the blue tint was so annoying that I ended-up replacing the LEDs with the OEM bulbs!
